2010 Centennial National Scout Jamboree

The 17th National Scout Jamboree will take place at Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia, from July 21 to August 5, 2010.  The event will help commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council will take a Council Contingent of about 5 troops with 36 youth and 4 adult leaders in each troop.  Scouts who are interested in attending with the MDSC contingent should register their contact information here.

In order to attend as a youth, a Scout must:

• Be at least First Class rank by the time of Jamboree attendance
• Have completed sixth grade or be at least 12 years old by July 21, 2010,
  and not reached his 18th birthday by August 5, 2010.
• Participate in pre-Jamboree training
• Submit a completed Jamboree medical form
• Be approved by his Scoutmaster and the MDSC Jamboree Committee

The actual Jamboree cost is not yet known, but there’s no cost to register for more information.  Details will then be sent at a later date and everyone will be afforded an opportunity to attend an informational meeting to learn more.
